Examining the Yelang V1036 Tritium Watch
I’ve just added another gem to my collection of tritium-illuminated timepieces: the 42mm Tritium Diver variant of the YELANG V1036 is a new entry from Yelang, a budding Chinese brand, offering Swiss-grade features at an accessible price point that’s worth a look. I recently purchased this watch on AliExpress, not knowing what to expect. Here is my Yelang Tritium watch review.
My take-
My first impressions were pleasant – everything seemed in order right out of the packaging. They included two watch straps, several extra lugs, and a tool to change the straps. For some reason, I expected a plastic watch, but it claims Stainless steel on the back, painted black, and has a some weight to it.
Everything in the specs checks out. Screw down crown, domed sapphire crystal, plenty of tritium, and impressively, the seconds marker hits the markers dead-on. 300meters WR. Pretty nice action on the bezel, and speaking of bezel, I was pleasantly suprised to see the painted markers on the bezel to be sunken, for extra durability. The Date complication is bilingual, and I was glad to see that because I do not speak Chinese.
Very nice deep blue tritium lume; not the icy colour blue of my other watches. Blue markers and on hours and minutes hands. They should have put green tubes on the hands; the hands are always the hardest to see in the dark. The second hand has no lume, but is flourescent orange.
The lug width is a bit smaller than I expected at 20mm, 22mm would suit the case better, but not a big deal. And the included straps will have to go… subpar. As far as supplier specs go, I’d give this watch a thumbs-up considering its price.
